Day 2 – Redux
Nov 07
There may be something to the satiety aspect of potatoes after all ( or maybe all fibrous vegetables behave this way … I’ll have to explore that further after this project ). Normally, when not eating this way, when I prepare my daily meal in the evening, I am ravenous. But yesterday evening, while preparing the latkes, not at all. Keep in mind that each batch of latkes takes 5 minutes a side to cook, and given the size of my pan, I make about 5 – 6 batches ( even so, I’m still eating only 1500 kcal ! ) All in all about 1 hours worth of preparation, handling food, smelling it cooking, and so on.
I can’t rule out that this may very well be a significant case of the Hawthorne effect. Or, it could also be that latkes aren’t nearly as appealing as other food. The interesting thing here relates to habituation and the cephalic insulin response. I am fairly consistent in my meal times, which would suggest that I ought to experience hunger at more or less the same time. Curious.
As a side note, there was none of the intestinal discomfort that I experienced during the 1st night. Perhaps that was a one off event?
